Clinton Route 66 Festival -- Downtown & McLain Rogers Park

The Clinton Route 66 Festival is a local favorite, as it's predecessor the Clinton Hot Dog Daze dates back over three decades. In 2007 Clinton was the host of the National Route 66 Festival and at that time combined the famous Hot Dog Daze and the local car show to boast an even bigger event as the national Route 66 Festival came through town. Add in a poker run and a wiener dog race and there you have a fun filled weekend. The Clinton Route 66 Festival is now in its sixth year and the excitement is as strong as ever.

The two-day Festival will begin downtown on Friday, May 25th with the second annual Route 66 Battle of the Bands hosted by Loucilles Roadhouse, a Stereo Sound Off Competetion hosted by Red Dirt Audio, and a Burn Out Zone hosted by SportChassis.

Saturday’s activities will take place in McLain Rogers Park on the corner of 10th Street and Jaycee Lane. Activities will include a Car and Bike Show, Weiner Nationals Dog Races, lots of great food and vendors, and a Poker Run down Old 66. Over $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded for the Car and Bike Show, and the Poker Run. The three fastest dogs in the Weiner Nationals will also receive cash prizes. Registration for the Car Show and the Poker Run begins at 8:00 a.m. just east of the park. At 10am the car show officially kicks off and registration for the Weiner Nationals begin just next to the yellow track which will be on Bess Rogers Ln, just prior to the 11:00 a.m. races. Anyone wanting to impress your friends can enter the hot dog eating contest hosted by Bar-S Foods at noon right next to the Wiener Dog Track. The Car Show raps up at 4pm with recognition and cash prizes. Run starts at 4:30pm, participants have until 7:30 to take advantage of the poker run specials at each of the five stops. At 8pm, Poker Run prizes will be awarded in the ampetheatre, and Still Surfin' the Beach Boys tribute band takes stage for a free concert.

This year’s Route 66 Festival will celebrate 50 years of Beach Boys music on Saturday, May 26th when “Still Surfin”, rides into Clinton for the first time.  The show features five talented singers and musicians who accurately recreate that famous California sound, including those incredible five part harmonies.
